Bookworm
Bookworm is an exciting experimental combination of bookends and bookshelves.
Is it possible to use a furniture accessory to emphasise our decorative books/albums while retaining book storage as an original function? Can the book and bookend form unity? These are some of the questions I sought to answer when designing Bookworm.
The name “Bookworm” refers both to the customer base of reading enthusiasts and to the playfulness of the product.
The product was inspired by mid-century modern magazine holders, but lacked the complex wavy-line design. I felt it was important to keep the worm- or wavelike shape without becoming overly playful and to maintain a clean aesthetic quality. As it is a display furniture accessory, I optimised the dimensions to accommodate large books/albums.
The Bookworm can be used as a stand-alone display to store and display our favorite books, magazines and albums either on a sideboard or wall shelf as a classic bookend, or even as a bookcase organizer.
